Anser canagica
Emperor geese live in Alaska, Northeastern Siberia, and the Aleutian islands. The name of the species (canagica) comes from Kanaga, an Aleutian island. They lay 3 - 8 white eggs usually in late June and the female incubates them for 24 days. The male stands guard during the incubation process. Two to three weeks after the young hatch, the adults molt and are flightless. Then new flight feathers are grown, and adults can fly again about the same time the young begin flying. Emperor geese live from 10 to 17 years.
