Elephas maximus
The Indian elephant is the largest animal in Asia. It is the only one of the two living species of elephants which can be tamed and become domestic.
This picture was taken in the Melbourne zoo, in May 2000. If you visit Melbourne, Australia, by any chance, say hello to this fellow, whose name is Mek Kappah. You can't miss him: the strange, elongated, downward-pointing tusk is a unique feature of this elephant.
