Salvelinus fontinalis
Brook trouts inhabit the streams and lakes of northern United States and Canada, including the Great Lakes. They have been introduced in many parts of the world, including South America, Asia, Europe, and New Zealand, because their meat is edible, and even considered tasty. They are carnivorous, eating insects and other small invertebrates, and are known to eat some of their own eggs at spawning.
