Ara glaucogularis
The Blue-throated Macaw is endemic to a small area of north-central Bolivia known as Los Llanos de Moxos. This is a critically endanged bird. Recent population estimates suggest that ca. 120 individuals remain in the wild.
This is not a forest dwelling bird. It inhabits seasonally inundated savanna, palm-groves, forest islands and possibly gallery forest, in the humid lowlands. Blue-throated Macaws are very social birds, often seen in the company of Blue and Yellow Macaws.
