Homo sapiens
Humans have bipedal gait which was developed probably early on in the family of hominids. They have fully erect posture. Human babies are born prematurely due to their enlarged cranium, and are helpless for a long period after birth. The only surviving species of the hominid family is Homo sapiens. Other members of this family include Homo erectus, Homo habilis, and Australopithecus afarensis, which are all extinct. The main means of communication between humans is language, a written form of which is shown by these very sentences.
