Yellow-fronted or Yellow-crowned Amazon

Amazona ochrocephala

Amazona ochrocephala comprises 10 subspecies, spread from Mexico south to Peru and Brazil. It is a bird of tropical woodland, thorn scrubs, pine forest, mangroves, pine savanna and may also be found on cultivated land and in urban areas.

They are normally found in pairs, rather than flocks. Their food includes fruits, nuts, and seeds and berries.

These birds are quite intelligent. In captivity, they will quickly begin to mimic sounds and become a very good talker.
