The Superb Parrot is found in Australia, in central woodland areas of southern New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, and Victoria. The total population of the Superb Parrot in the wild is estimated to be only a few thousand birds.
Superb Parrots feed mainly on the ground. They eat the seeds of grasses and plants, fruits and berries, nectar, flowers and some insects. These parrots do not fly that much in the open space, as some other parrot species do. They like to stay in the trees, as they are great climbers, and enjoy it.
They nest in deep hollows or hollow limbs, in large trees along watercourses. The female incubates and is fed by the male until the young are very small. After that, both parents feed the young.
